The ending of John Wick: Chapter 4 takes a surprising twist, with John ultimately dying and being laid to rest beside his wife Helen. Despite John’s demise, the John Wick universe is continuing with two spinoffs, The Continental TV series and the Ana de Armas-led Ballerina (in which Reeves will also appear as John Wick, with the movie set before John Wick: Chapter 4). Meanwhile, there are five standout characters in John Wick: Chapter 4 who could easily carry their own spinoffs, each able to continue expanding the John Wick universe in different directions.

5 Caine
Donnie Yen’s Caine is the most obvious John Wick: Chapter 4 character who is primed for a spinoff. Yen has been a star in Hong Kong for decades, but John Wick: Chapter 4 is a Western movie that fully uses Yen’s skills at last. Yen’s fight scenes in John Wick: Chapter 4 are incredible, while his backstory as John’s friend along with Caine being a retired assassin himself demonstrates there is a lot about his past that remains unexplored.
Caine’s own uneasy relationship with the High Table could form the basis for a spinoff, with Caine having voluntarily given up his eyes to them for unrevealed reasons. Caine being forced to hunt John with his daughter’s life at stake could also inspire feelings of vengeance within him. With such a bad history between himself and the High Table, Caine’s spinoff could potentially follow him on a revenge mission against the High Table. Donnie Yen himself has expressed interest in the possibility of a Caine spinoff, and between that the movie’s end-credits scene, it seems like a good bet that one could already be on the table.
4 Mr. Nobody
Shamier Anderson’s Tracker, who goes by “Mr. Nobody”, is another standout supporting character in John Wick: Chapter 4. Tasked with locating John by the Marquis de Gramont, Mr. Nobody’s role in John Wick: Chapter 4 single-handedly introduces a whole new concept into the franchise of trackers acting as liaisons to the High Table, which could be further expounded upon in a Mr. Nobody spinoff. Moreover, Mr. Nobody is himself a highly capable mercenary and marksmen, with his loyal German shepherd his close ally on his mission.
On top of being a mysterious and compelling character in his own right, Mr. Nobody’s canine companion could also imply some connection between him and Sofia (Halle Berry) of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. That could potentially bring Sofia back into a new story in the John Wick franchise, possibly revealing that she was once a tracker herself before becoming manager of the Morocco Continental. As two acquaintances of John Wick’s, each having a very different history with him, a team-up of Mr. Nobody and Sofia could make for a great double-header spinoff with both characters.

3 Killa
The German nightclub owner Killa Harkan (Scott Adkins) is the subject of a vendetta by John Wick’s adoptive Russian family, the Ruska Ruma, with John assassinating Killa in his Berlin nightclub in order to be brought back into their inner circle. While that takes Killa off the table for any future stories in the John Wick franchise, going into the past could easily bring him back into the fold to shed more light on his killing of Katia’s (Natalia Tena) father and his own assassin history.
Killa could be brought back either as the antagonist of another character’s story pre-John Wick: Chapter 4, or in his own spinoff exploring his villainous origins. With Adkins already being a revered martial arts star, his performance and look (by way of a fat suit) as Killa is radically different from anything he has done previously, and makes Scott Adkins a John Wick: Chapter 4 standout. Seeing more of Killa’s backstory and history in the John Wick universe can bring those same elements back into the franchise tenfold.
2 The Bowery King
The Baba Yaga’s close ally since John Wick: Chapter 2, the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) returns in John Wick: Chapter 4 to provide more assistance in John’s fight for his freedom. In being a leader of the homeless population’s underworld of assassins, the Bowery King has long been an ideal character to anchor a spinoff and could be the perfect figure to more deeply explore his side of the assassin world.
The Bowery King’s role has long implied that the assassin culture is somewhat factionalized. Seeing that further explored along with the Bowery King’s leadership role in the homeless population of assassins are among the numerous stories his spinoff could delve into. The Bowery King’s defiance of the rules of the High Table, and where his relationship with them stands after John’s defeat of the Marquis de Gramont could also be perfect to focus on in either a John Wick spinoff or prequel. Moreover, John’s adorable pitbull would also likely get to return, being under the care of the Bowery King by the end of John Wick: Chapter 4.
1 Akira
Akira (Rina Sawayama) is another new character introduced into John Wick: Chapter 4 as the daughter of the Osaka Continental’s manager Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada), and could carry her own spinoff with ease. In John Wick: Chapter 4’s battle in the Osaka Continental, Akira is a force to be reckoned with in her skills with blades and arrows alike. Additionally, John Wick: Chapter 4 also sets her up to continue in Caine’s own story with the death of her father by Caine’s blade, and Akira vowing revenge.
John Wick: Chapter 4’s post-credits scene shows Akira preparing to confront Caine in Paris. However, Caine was himself in a bad situation with his daughter’s life being threatened, which puts their conflict in a grey area, and is a story very worth continuing in a spinoff. The possibilities for Akira’s future also need not stop there. After Shimazu’s death, that leaves Akira heiress to the Osaka Continental, setting her up to be a major player in the assassin world, and providing a strong foundation for her own spinoff in the John Wick universe after her role in John Wick: Chapter 4.
